Yogi govt sets record with largest budget: Presented by UP FM Suresh Khanna

In a significant development, the Uttar Pradesh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, unveiled its third general grand budget for the second term, presenting a robust financial plan exceeding Rs 7.36 lakh crore. Finance Minister Suresh Khanna announced the allocation of more than Rs 24,000 crores for new schemes within the budget. Notable provisions include Rs 1140 crore for the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana-Rural, which has seen the completion of 2,03,000 updated houses from 2018-2019 to 2023-2024.

Additionally, a budget of Rs 2520 crore (including GST) is proposed for the Legislative Area Development Scheme in the fiscal year 2024-2025, with Rs 5060 crore earmarked for the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. The budget also allocates Rs 575 crore for the Purvanchal Development Fund and Rs 425 crore for the Bundelkhand Development Fund. Finance Minister Khanna highlighted the achievements of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), noting a substantial increase in sanctioned houses from 1.40 lakh in 2016 to an impressive 36 lakh 15 thousand.

Out of these, 34 lakh 14 thousand houses have been completed, and the remaining are under construction. The financial year 2024-25 sees a proposed provision of around Rs 2441 crore for the PMAY (Rural). Additionally, the budget addresses local needs with a proposed Rs 2400 crore for the accelerated economic development plan and Rs 95 crore under the Critical Gaps Scheme to address urgent development needs in districts.
